Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about EV Napló, how it handles your data, and what's included for free.

General

What is EV Napló?+

EV Napló is an iPhone app for sole proprietors. It tracks your income and expenses, keeps your tax exposure and key limits in view all year, and prepares the numbers you need for your tax filing.

Which tax regimes does it support?+

There's built-in, itemized calculation for átalányadó and vállalkozói szja: SZJA, social contribution tax, social security, and local business tax. KATA and other regimes can also be selected during setup, but without detailed tax calculation.

Which tax regime is better for me?+

It depends on your annual revenue, costs, and withdrawal (kivét). Our guides include a calculator that compares átalányadó and vállalkozói szja using your own numbers, so you can see which one comes out ahead.

Flat-rate tax or vállalkozói szja? →
Does it replace my accountant?+

The goal is to let you handle day-to-day bookkeeping, recording income and expenses, and preparing the figures for your tax filing entirely on your own. In more complex situations, or if you're unsure about a tax question, it's still worth getting help from an accountant or tax advisor.

Is it available on Android?+

EV Napló is available on iPhone for now, with an Android version planned for a later date.

When does it launch, and how will I find out?+

EV Napló is coming soon to the App Store. Sign up for the newsletter on the home page and we'll email you the moment it launches.

Data and security

Where is my data stored?+

Your data lives on your phone and syncs across your own devices through iCloud, tied to your Apple ID. EV Napló doesn't run its own server for your bookkeeping data.

Does NAV get automatic access to my data?+

No. The NAV Online Számla sync works in one direction: the app downloads your official invoice data to match it against your recorded entries. It doesn't submit anything to NAV, and it doesn't replace filing your return.

Hungarian tax and NAV →
Does receipt scanning upload my receipt photos to a server?+

No, receipt scanning uses Apple's on-device AI, so the receipt image doesn't leave your phone for processing.

What happens if I lose my phone or delete the app?+

Because EV Napló syncs through iCloud, your data is protected against losing a single device. You can also create a full CSV backup of your books at any time, which you can store separately or re-import when restoring.
