What trips people up

The switch isn't hard, it's just different from KATA

Which tax regime should I pick now?

Whether átalányadó or vállalkozói szja works out better depends on your actual revenue and costs, not a one-size-fits-all rule.

I never had to track costs before

KATA's flat monthly fee meant the ratio of revenue to cost never mattered. Under átalányadó or vállalkozói szja it does, and it's the part most people underestimate at first.

What is this szocho? KATA never had that

The flat monthly KATA tax covered everything. Under átalányadó or vállalkozói szja, social contribution tax is due separately, generally on at least the minimum wage, even in a month you withdrew less.

What the app does for you

The rules that apply to you

Built for the rules that actually apply to you

This doesn't replace reading the specifics: the exact rules, with the exceptions, are in the full guides.

Since the 2022 reform, KATA can generally only be chosen by a main-occupation sole proprietor who works exclusively for private individuals, not for businesses, organizations, or foreign payers.

Outside KATA, social contribution tax must be established and paid separately, generally on at least the minimum wage for a main-occupation proprietor, even in a month you withdrew less.

Whether átalányadó or vállalkozói szja works out better depends on your actual cost ratio, so it's worth comparing the two using your own numbers.

FAQ
